An avid beader, Alethea shared her enthusiasm for and knowledge of beads with
her friends. It wasn't long before they were beading together.
From beading for themselves, they moved to making beaded jewelry to
selling it.
Over time, bead purchases
began to represent a significant percentage of Alethea's monthly
credit card purchases. Looking at a credit card statement with
more than a few bead purchases on it, Alethea's husband, Bill,
commented,
"You might as well go into
the bead business."
"Not a bad idea", she
thought. Bill suggested that she
work out a business plan. Alethea did
and the rest is history.
The shop, A Better Bead and Crafts,
opened on 3 April 2004, to an enthusiastic response from the public.
It is now four years
later and beaders are finding their way through the door on a regular
basis.
