Colors will appear
drastically different from computer to computer. We take the
most accurate pictures we can. We reinforce our pictures with
a description of the color in commonly used terms. Further,
when a particular bead appears different on our computer from the
actual color of the bead, we note that for you with a
*. In such
a case, we encourage you to rely more on the description of the
color as it is written rather than the picture of the bead.

Vintage Beads
How old is
vintage? The dictionary says vintage is, "of old,
recognized, and enduring interest, importance and quality". In
the bead trade that means between 20 and 70 years.
Anything from
the 90's to the present is just old. Anything made earlier than
the start of WWII
is considered antique even though Europeans don't count
furniture as antique until it is 100 years old.
Everybody, Europeans included, pretty much agree that beads have a
different standard. For them 80 plus years old is antique.

Leaf and Flower Beads
What are
reproduction beads? They are new beads made to look
like old beads. In some cases they are actually made on the
same equipment as the old ones. Sometimes, the glass is old,
even antique, and it is made into new beads. In the case of
these German beads, they are new glass made to look like old beads
from 30 to 70 years ago using similar techniques. |
